Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Desmond McLian kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the game, Boru Grant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Branagain Bayes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alan Frankson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reagan Hunt having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Strokestown's zone, Boru Grant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Branagain Bayes came out of the goal and Boru Grant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Strokestown's Branagain Bayes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boru Grant in the 16th minute of play. After having played for 19 minutes, Danann John managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Larass Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danann John was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gilian McLian hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Alan Frankson might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reagan Hunt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alan Frankson ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Strokestown's Turlough Lavine got a free kick in the 35th minute. When Larass Utd's Danann John in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Strokestown's goalie prevented a goal. If Boru Grant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Branagain Bayes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danann John in the 41st minute of the match. Branagain Bayes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danann John in the 44th minute of play. Iarla Cooney hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After 47 played minutes, Strokestown's Kieran McWillie shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Reagan Hunt came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Strokestown reached it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danann John to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 59thth minute of the game Desmond McLian who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Larass Utd's Reagan Hunt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gearalt McPhil during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Strokestown booed when Larass Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gearalt McPhil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harley Costello missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 69 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Reagan Hunt right hand side. Reagan Hunt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Desmond McLian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute, Desmond McLian ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reagan Hunt was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Larass Utd's Reagan Hunt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Frankson in the 87th minute of play. In the 89th minute Alan Frankson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reagan Hunt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brenan McJames hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Desmond McLian in the 92nd minute of play forced Larass Utd's goalkeeper Reagan Hunt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danann John sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Larass Utd's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
