The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. One of Poulanargid FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Shanavoola:s goal. The referee gave Shanavoola a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Beartlai McVictor, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Poulanargid FC's Pearce Murphy. 0-1. Thom McPeter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pearce Murphy having to interfere. In the 22nd match minute, Shanavoola was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brazil Mullan to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th match minute, Poulanargid FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Todd Robinson to maneuver through the defense. Poulanargid FC's Pearce Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beartlai McVictor in the 28th minute of play. Bel Jameson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Sameer Harkin made a huge save. Brazil Mullan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Pearce Murphy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute Beiti McLaughlin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pearce Murphy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sameer Harkin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gearoid Quinnless, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 40 minutes of play, Poulanargid FC's Bel Jameson made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sameer Harkin was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thom McPeter to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 52 in the game by Beiti McLaughlin from a close distance when the talented Pearce Murphy managed to make a qualified save. Poulanargid FC's players were relieved. Beiti McLaughlin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pearce Murphy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th minute, Gearoid Quinnless left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Poulanargid FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The supporters of Poulanargid FC booed when Shanavoola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breffni Tierney didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pearce Murphy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thom McPeter, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Bel Jameson might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sameer Harkin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bel Jameson ran back to his position shaking his head. 76 minutes into the game, Breffni Tierney was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shanavoola's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Poulanargid FC the free kick. After 76 played minutes Shanavoola got a freekick which was hit by Breffni Tierney. After 78 played minutes Shanavoola got a freekick which was hit by Brine Cooney. Tate Molloy took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sameer Harkin. Shanavoola's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Poulanargid FC's Gill Horgan in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Shanavoola's goalie prevented a goal. Gill Horgan hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Shanavoola's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
