Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Thom McPeter got the match started through his kick off. Thom McPeter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Branagain Bayes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sameer Harkin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Desmond McLian in the 18th minute of play. Beiti McLaughlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alan Frankson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sameer Harkin having to interfere. If Beiti McLaughlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brazil Mullan got free with Branagain Bayes in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 40 minutes into the match, Shanavoola's goal looked a bit too open when Alan Frankson came free, but Sameer Harkin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Kaine Colwell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute Shanavoola were awarded a corner. Beartlai McVictor went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Beartlai McVictor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Strokestown's Branagain Bayes did a great save. Beiti McLaughlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Branagain Bayes having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Alan Frankson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Strokestown's supporters rose to their feet, but Alan Frankson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sameer Harkin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Breffni Tierney during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Shanavoola getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Breffni Tierney hit a great ball. After 57 played minutes Strokestown got a freekick which was hit by Desmond McLian. In the 67th match minute, Strokestown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kieran McWillie to maneuver through the defense. When Thom McPeter came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Shanavoola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thom McPeter couldn't finish the play. Turlough Lavine charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Turlough Lavine the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 71st match minute, Strokestown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Turlough Lavine to maneuver through the defense. Beiti McLaughlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Branagain Bayes having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Shanavoola fans cheered their team off the field, for while Strokestown had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
