The referee gave Gearalt McJohn a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Antaine Byrne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lewy Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ailín Doyle hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute, Lewy Palmer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ahimma AFC's zone, Ailín Doyle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antaine Byrne came out of the goal and Ailín Doyle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Ahimma AFC booed when Glengarriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ailín Doyle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ahimma AFC's Antaine Byrne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lewy Palmer in the 96th minute of play. Glengarriff's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
