Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Desmond Kirby kicked off to start the match. Blathmac Deans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Abbeyleix Utd's zone, Hayes Doherty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gehan McLian came out of the goal and Hayes Doherty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gehan McLian came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Raymoghy's Hayes Doherty. But to his dismay, Hayes Doherty quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Hayes Doherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Raymoghy booed when Abbeyleix Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arthur Lester didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute of the match, Desmond Kirby tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gehan McLian saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 19 minutes into the game, Geary Gallagher was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Abbeyleix Utd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Raymoghy the free kick. After a rather tough play, Abbeyleix Utd's Geary Gallagher got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 26th minute Desmond Kirby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gehan McLian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Hayes Doherty got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Abbeyleix Utd's Blathmac Deans in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Raymoghy's goalie prevented a goal. Raymoghy's Terrence Glen Crowe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathmac Deans in the 44th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Blathmac Deans was the one to do the kick off. Abbeyleix Utd's Gehan McLian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hayes Doherty in the 56th minute of play. Gehan McLian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hayes Doherty in the 61st minute of the match. After 62 minutes of play, Abbeyleix Utd's Blathmac Deans made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Terrence Glen Crowe was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hayes Doherty recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Hayes Doherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gehan McLian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Desmond Kirby in the 69th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Abbeyleix Utd's zone, Phelim Doherty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gehan McLian came out of the goal and Phelim Doherty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Desmond Kirby might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gehan McLian. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Desmond Kirby ran back to his position shaking his head. After 79 minutes, Arthur Lester mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abbeyleix Utd and the Raymoghy players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Raymoghy booed when Abbeyleix Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arthur Lester didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hayes Doherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hayes Doherty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gehan McLian having to interfere. A collision led to Raymoghy getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Saoirse MaCollin hit a great ball. In the 91st minute, Arthur Lester got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Desmond Kirby's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gehan McLian read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. If Blathmac Deans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Desmond Kirby in the 97th minute of play forced Abbeyleix Utd's goalkeeper Gehan McLian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Desmond Kirby in the 100th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gehan McLian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Despite being the better team, Raymoghy failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
