Geoffrey McBrand might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Terence O'Down. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geoffrey McBrand ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoffrey McBrand in the 6th minute of play forced Glengarriff's goalkeeper Terence O'Down to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bil Gallagher fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Illanbaun's protests and gave Bil Gallagher a yellow card for diving instead. Geoffrey McBrand fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence O'Down having to interfere. In the 16th match minute, Glengarriff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bressal Deery to maneuver through the defense. Irving Dimson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Barra Willson made a huge save. Bedilia Taylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terence O'Down made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bedilia Taylor in the 41st minute of play. Ailín Doyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bedilia Taylor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence O'Down having to interfere.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Geoffrey McBrand was the one to do the kick off. Bedilia Taylor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Terence O'Down tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute Lewy Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barra Willson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Glengarriff fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Geoffrey McBrand managed to get in a good position for a shot. Illanbaun's supporters rose to their feet, but Geoffrey McBrand was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terence O'Down breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice moves Bedilia Taylor could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Terence O'Down however easily saved by the left post. In the 82ndth minute of the game Geoffrey McBrand who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Glengarriff's Terence O'Down was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bedilia Taylor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence O'Down having to interfere. Illanbaun's Geoffrey McBrand got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Geoffrey McBrand struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Terence O'Down didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Illanbaun. In the 97th minute of the match Bressal Deery sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Barra Willson skillfully saved the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Glengarriff fans cheered their team off the field, for while Illanbaun had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
