Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Abbeyville's Begley McBjarton started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 10th minute Begley McBjarton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bannon Ryan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Breed Johnson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Abbeyville booed when Cloon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baolach Colwell didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Breed Johnson in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bannon Ryan saved Cloon from getting behind. After 22 minutes, Banbhan Martyn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abbeyville and the Cloon players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tobin Tierney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Fionntán Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fionntán Dunne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glen McWilliam, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Tobin Tierney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fionntán Dunne having to interfere. The supporters of Cloon booed when Abbeyville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sameer McAaron didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Glen McWilliam dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Fionntán Dunne, 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Glen McWilliam in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fionntán Dunne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Cloon's Roland McPhil got a free kick in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Glen McWilliam to make the kick off. Fionntán Dunne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glen McWilliam, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Tobin Tierney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Fionntán Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the game, Cloon's Glen McWilliam nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fionntán Dunne made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If Begley McBjarton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fergus Holt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fionntán Dunne. Abbeyville's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Fionntán Dunne didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tobin Tierney went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Cloon walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
