In the 18th minute, Torrian McFrancise hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 18 played minutes, Bolinglanna's Patton McVictor shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gealan Cassin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bolinglanna reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harold McCollion in the 22nd minute of play forced Ballyconnel's goalkeeper Gealan Cassin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Ballyconnel's goalkeeper Gealan Cassin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caoilte Deery. Eoghan Kirby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremiah McStephen, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Jeremiah McStephen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eoghan Kirby having to interfere. Eoghan Kirby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremiah McStephen, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Harold McCollion dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gealan Cassin, 1-0. Bolinglanna's Peter Brennan got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Caoilte Deery to strike the kick off in the second half. If Breck Hutton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 57 minutes, Rownun Dillon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballyconnel and the Bolinglanna players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Ballyconnel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rownun Dillon to maneuver through the defense. Eoghan Kirby came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Ballyconnel's Ardán Molloy. But to his dismay, Ardán Molloy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 62nd minute Caoilte Deery shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gealan Cassin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bolinglanna's Patton McVictor got a free kick in the 65th minute. After 66 played minutes, Ballyconnel's Breck Hutton shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eoghan Kirby came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ballyconnel reached it. 70 minutes into the match, Bolinglanna's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremiah McStephen came free, but Eoghan Kirby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 82 minutes, Harold McCollion managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bolinglanna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harold McCollion was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eoghan Kirby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremiah McStephen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eoghan Kirby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremiah McStephen in the 89th minute of the match. In the 91st minute, Breck Hutton reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eoghan Kirby. The goal made the score 1-3. 96 minutes into the match, Peter Brennan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gealan Cassin. Ballyconnel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peter Brennan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The Ballyconnel supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ballyconnel would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
