The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Breslin McBjarton put in a rough tackle. After 18 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ballinteskin! Farrell Hunt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donahue Colwell, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Farrell Hunt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Farrell Hunt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blathma Molloy in the 45th minute of play. Logan Kirby charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Logan Kirby the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Logan Kirby to make the kick off. In the 72nd match minute, Ballinteskin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patty McLaughlin to maneuver through the defense. Donahue Colwell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Farrell Hunt made a huge save. After having played for 88 minutes, Logan Kirby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballinteskin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Logan Kirby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 89th minute of the match Finbar McJohn shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bodibeve Cronin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Bhrighde Sheridan fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballinteskin's protests and gave Bhrighde Sheridan a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes Ballinteskin got a freekick which was hit by Bhrighde Sheridan. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ballinteskin's goalkeeper Farrell Hunt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Carrowcastle left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Ballinteskin.
