Sligo Stadium
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Breenan McVictor took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braoin Hamilton in the 3rd minute of play forced Sligo's goalkeeper Dawayne McTommy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dawayne McTommy came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Markhamstown's Braedon Hamilton. But to his dismay, Braedon Hamilton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 7 minutes, Breenan McVictor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sligo and the Markhamstown players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th minute, Breenan McVictor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Braedon Hamilton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Markhamstown's supporters rose to their feet, but Braedon Hamilton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dawayne McTommy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breenan McVictor in the 12th minute of play forced Markhamstown's goalkeeper Baptist McCollion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Breenan McVictor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baptist McCollion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rowley McWill got free with Baptist McCollion in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braedon Hamilton in the 15th minute of play forced Sligo's goalkeeper Dawayne McTommy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Markhamstown's Braoin Hamilton got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dawayne McTommy came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Markhamstown's Braedon Hamilton. But to his dismay, Braedon Hamilton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Baptist McCollion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Healy Benson, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Baptist McCollion made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Rowley McWill sent off a good shot on target. When Fionn Taylor came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Markhamstown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fionn Taylor couldn't finish the play. Rowley McWill who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Baptist McCollion when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dawayne McTommy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Braedon Hamilton's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. After the first half Markhamstown were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Braedon Hamilton to make the kick off. Rowley McWill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baptist McCollion read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. When Braoin Hamilton fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Markhamstown's protests and gave Braoin Hamilton a yellow card for diving instead. Braoin Hamilton hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. After 58 minutes, Healy Benson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sligo and the Markhamstown players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Markhamstown booed when Sligo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Healy Benson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute, Braoin Hamilton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Markhamstown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. In the 66th match minute, Sligo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bram Caffrey to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rdth minute of the game Braedon Hamilton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sligo's Dawayne McTommy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Braedon Hamiltons short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Dawayne McTommy to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rowley McWill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baptist McCollion read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Braedon Hamilton in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dawayne McTommy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 87 minutes, Braedon Hamilton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Markhamstown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Braedon Hamilton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Braoin Hamilton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Dawayne McTommy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Braedon Hamilton in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dawayne McTommy, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bercnan Tracy took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dawayne McTommy. Sligo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Sligo's goal looked a bit too open when Braedon Hamilton came free, but Dawayne McTommy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Markhamstown players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
