If Dillon Scully had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Bram Caffrey fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sligo's protests and gave Bram Caffrey a yellow card for diving instead. Bram Caffrey hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Blathmac McAaron took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dawayne McTommy. Sligo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Braon McPeter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breenan McVictor in the 21st minute of play. Braon McPeter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breenan McVictor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Breenan McVictor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Braon McPeter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Meadstown getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Aaden Harkin hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the match, Sligo's Bram Caffrey broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 45 minutes into the match, Meadstown's goal looked a bit too open when Rowley McWill came free, but Braon McPeter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 47 minutes, Blaine McLiam mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Meadstown and the Sligo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Meadstown getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Blaine McLiam hit a great ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shamus McPaul to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Sligo getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. The supporters of Sligo booed when Meadstown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaden Harkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute, Bram Caffrey sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Meadstown's Braon McPeter didn't even have to move. 80 minutes into the match, Sligo's Breenan McVictor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Braon McPeter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Sligo fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Sligo's Breenan McVictor looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 89th minute, Shamus McPaul left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Meadstown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
