After a defensive mix-up in Ballinaboy's zone, Patraic McAlphie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damian Silke came out of the goal and Patraic McAlphie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Patraic McAlphie to make the kick off. Ballinaboy's Damian Silke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bercan Lavine in the 51st minute of play. In the 54th minute of the match Bourns McPeter sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Damian Silke skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patraic McAlphie in the 56th minute of play forced Ballinaboy's goalkeeper Damian Silke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bercan Lavine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damian Silke having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Patraic McAlphie put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Damian Silke. A collision led to Ballinaboy getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Cullan Lavine hit a great ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Bercan Lavine managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skeahanagh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bercan Lavine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Damian Silke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bercan Lavine in the 88th minute of play. Damian Silke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patraic McAlphie, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Skeahanagh's Donal Crowe pulled a muscle in his leg after 93 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 93 minutes into the game, Blathmac McJohn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ballinaboy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skeahanagh the free kick. A collision led to Skeahanagh getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Patraic McAlphie hit a great ball. 97 minutes into the match, Ballinaboy's Jeremiah Brennan broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ballinaboy players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Skeahanagh.
