The referee showed Hugh Byrne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Oughterard booed when Whitegate AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baptist Mulvihill didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the game, Geoffrey McDecland was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oughterard's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whitegate AFC the free kick. In the 57th match minute, Oughterard was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoffrey McDecland to maneuver through the defense. The attack was good, but when Bran Martyn in the 59th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Pierson Brennan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bran Martyn went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Oughterard's Pierson Brennan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bran Martyn in the 79th minute of play.
