After 10 played minutes Knockatee AFC got a freekick which was hit by Biddy Costello. 12 minutes into the match, Knockatee AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Felim Mullan came free, but Artuir Dempsey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Felim Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute Felim Mullan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artuir Dempsey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Artuir Dempsey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brett Doherty went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Knockatee AFC's zone, Felim Mullan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artuir Dempsey came out of the goal and Felim Mullan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gordan Sheridan kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Ros Cooney hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Brett Doherty's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Artuir Dempsey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. With a little luck, Knockatee AFC's Artuir Dempsey got control of the ball when Brett Doherty tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Felim Mullan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Artuir Dempsey was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Brett Doherty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artuir Dempsey having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felim Mullan in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Artuir Dempsey saved Knockatee AFC from getting behind. Felim Mullan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artuir Dempsey having to make a save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Felim Mullan made the kick off in the second half. If Peadar Dunne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. Louth Utd walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
