Bearach McDonald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brett Doherty in the 11th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Doney McLaughlin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pollrone's supporters rose to their feet, but Doney McLaughlin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Batt McSteven breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Louth Utd booed when Pollrone was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birr McBrandon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pollrone's Bearach McDonald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brett Doherty in the 22nd minute of play. After 26 minutes, Kevin Prunty mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pollrone and the Louth Utd players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Pollrone's Kevin Prunty got a free kick in the 26th minute. If Felim Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, Doney McLaughlin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Derry Beckett during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Felim Mullan's late challenge caught a Pollrone's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 72nd minute of the game Healy Grant made a throw-in which Flannery McTom played forward. 74 minutes into the match, Louth Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Doney McLaughlin came free, but Batt McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pollrone's Doney McLaughlin got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd match minute, Louth Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Healy Grant to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Louth Utd's goalkeeper Batt McSteven, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
