Barcvni McJohnny's late challenge caught a Carrowntawy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Barcvni McJohnny helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Canningstown FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Carrowntawy:s goal. Conaill Scully had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Boland Duggan's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Carrowntawy's Boland Duggan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Conaill Scully made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 28 minutes into the game, Brannen McDecland cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ciarán Hutton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Carrowntawy's Ciarán Hutton got control of the ball when Brannen McDecland tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jeremiah Kelly made a kick off. When Jeremiah Kelly fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canningstown FC's protests and gave Jeremiah Kelly a yellow card for diving instead. In the 82nd minute Jeremiah Kelly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciarán Hutton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Jeremiah Kelly ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ciarán Hutton was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Aaden Murphy kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Brannen McDecland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Carrowntawy supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Carrowntawy would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
