In the 3rd minute Robert Walker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donoghue Caffrey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beara Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Knockbodaly booed when Cluid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theodore Lavine didn't get a good kick on the ball. Knockbodaly's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Beara Hughes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Cluid's Toran Molloy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnold Branson. That made the score 2-1 after 24 minutes of play. Robert Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donoghue Caffrey having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Cluid's goal looked a bit too open when Peadair MaCollin came free, but Donoghue Caffrey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Knockbodaly's Arnold Branson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Theodore Lavine in the 30th minute of play. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Knockbodaly's goalkeeper Arnold Branson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Cluid's Toran Molloy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnold Branson. That made the score 3-1 after 40 minutes of play. Donoghue Caffrey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Walker, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robert Walker to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Cluid's Gearalt Caffey got a free kick in the 83rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Cluid had won after a very even match.
