Raymond Murphy's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Cahir Benson - 0-1 was put on the score board in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, Moylough's goal looked a bit too open when Roordan Mullan came free, but Cahir Benson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gordan McTom made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Seán Colwell sent off a good shot on target. Baoithin Caffrey's late challenge caught a Moylough's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
