After 8 minutes, Bartel McJames mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cavan Utd and the Knockbodaly players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th match minute, Cavan Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bartel McJames to maneuver through the defense. Caroll Myler hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Knockbodaly's Arnold Branson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rourke McGlynn in the 11th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Cavan Utd's goalkeeper Brazil Hunt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Peadair MaCollin. With 18 minutes on the clock, Harry McWillie commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 19 played minutes Cavan Utd got a freekick which was hit by Harry McWillie. Knockbodaly's Breanne Deery got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Knockbodaly getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Belock McStephen hit a great ball. When Belock McStephen fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Knockbodaly's protests and gave Belock McStephen a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Knockbodaly's zone, Bearnard McPeter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnold Branson came out of the goal and Bearnard McPeter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cavan Utd's Brazil Hunt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Walker in the 36th minute of play. If Gehan Gillmour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robert Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brazil Hunt having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robert Walker to strike the kick off in the second half. After 57 played minutes Knockbodaly got a freekick which was hit by Caroll Myler. 61 minutes into the game, Conor Mullan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. After some careless play in the Cavan Utd defense, Belock McStephen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brazil Hunt. Brazil Hunt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belock McStephen in the 72nd minute of the match. Belock McStephen scored 2-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brazil Hunt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Cavan Utd booed when Knockbodaly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bren Horgan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute, Tierney McDecland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Walker in the 89th minute of play forced Cavan Utd's goalkeeper Brazil Hunt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brazil Hunt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Walker, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. 96 minutes into the match, Cavan Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Caroll Myler came free, but Brazil Hunt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
