The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Castlecarra Utd's Donlan Gallagher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordan Scully in the 10th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gordan Scully in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Donlan Gallagher prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 13 minutes into the match Pat McFrank climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-0 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Donlan Gallagher. In a very dangerous position, a player in Caherlevoy fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 17th minute. Penalty! Herich Harkin shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When Lee Harkin came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Castlecarra Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lee Harkin couldn't finish the play. Terence McBrandon charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Terence McBrandon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 24 played minutes Caherlevoy got a freekick which was hit by Terence McBrandon. Binne Gillmour showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lee Harkin in the 25th minute of the match. In the 36th minute Gordan Scully shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donlan Gallagher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beale MaCollin in the 41st minute of play forced Caherlevoy's goalkeeper Binne Gillmour to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lee Harkin's late challenge caught a Caherlevoy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lee Harkin helped the player get up and apologised. Lee Harkin kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Pat McFrank might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donlan Gallagher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pat McFrank ran back to his position shaking his head. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gordan Scully stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Donlan Gallagher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordan Scully, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 53rd minute Gordan Scully shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donlan Gallagher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pat McFrank in the 55th minute of play forced Castlecarra Utd's goalkeeper Donlan Gallagher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pat McFrank in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donlan Gallagher saved Castlecarra Utd from getting behind. In the 59th minute, Gordan Scully hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 64 minutes into the game, Castlecarra Utd's Beale MaCollin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Binne Gillmour made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Lee Harkin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Binne Gillmour tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 80 minutes into the match, Caherlevoy's goalkeeper Binne Gillmour had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Beale MaCollin. 2-1 became the score in the 82nd minute when Gordan Scully elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. For all the effort they put into the match, the Castlecarra Utd players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Caherlevoy.
