After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Pat McFrank managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caherlevoy's supporters rose to their feet, but Pat McFrank was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brann McPaul breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Binne Gillmour was a little too slow when Lou Jameson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 13th minute. The score was now 1-0. After 16 played minutes Clonona got a freekick which was hit by Baird McPhilip. 19 minutes into the game, Caherlevoy's Pat McFrank nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Brann McPaul made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Binne Gillmour showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lou Jameson, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 34th match minute, Clonona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berke Jameson to maneuver through the defense. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gordan Scully was the one to do the kick off. Caherlevoy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pat McFrank was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Pat McFrank left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caherlevoy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3.
