With an all-out effort, Tallaght United's Aaden Ryan threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bricin Deans, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 6th match minute, Porridgetown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bresal Keegan to maneuver through the defense. Desmond McWillie's late challenge caught a Porridgetown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Desmond McWillie helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes Tallaght United got a freekick which was hit by Desmond McWillie. Bresal Keegan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louis Rutherford having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Cassidy Hunt put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Aaden Ryan. If Bresal Keegan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beiti Cronin hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Desmond McWillie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Aaden Ryan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aaden Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassidy Hunt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Porridgetown's Aaden Ryan got control of the ball when Desmond McWillie tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bresal Keegan struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Louis Rutherford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Porridgetown. Bresal Keegan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassidy Hunt to make the kick off. Barclay Holt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Louis Rutherford having to make a save. Desmond McWillie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beiti Cronin hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Donan Hamilton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Porridgetown's Aaden Ryan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassidy Hunt in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tallaght United's zone, Bantry McMichel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Louis Rutherford came out of the goal and Bantry McMichel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bresal Keegan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute, Beiti Cronin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beanon Byrne during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ryley Deans took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Aaden Ryan. Porridgetown's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Bantry McMichel received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Louis Rutherford came out and tried to block the shot, but Bantry McMichel slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 88th minute. After a rather tough play, Tallaght United's Sameer Robinson got a free kick in the 94th minute. After 96 played minutes Tallaght United got a freekick which was hit by Desmond McWillie. Porridgetown's Bantry McMichel got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tallaght United succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Porridgetown had controlled the match.
