Spectators: 8012 (Terracing: 6011, Seating: 1842, VIP seats: 159) Greenhall FC's Boddibevve McWill started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Boddibevve McWill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of FC Athenry booed when Greenhall FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedict Cassin didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Boddibevve McWill came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Greenhall FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boddibevve McWill couldn't finish the play. Randal McIan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Boynton Crowe having to make a save. After 19 played minutes FC Athenry got a freekick which was hit by Tate Keegan. Donell Caffrey's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Salmon McIan firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 24th match minute, Greenhall FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randal McIan to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute Bealtaine John shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boynton Crowe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Athenry's Boynton Crowe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Randal McIan in the 34th minute of play. After some careless play in the FC Athenry defense, Randal McIan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boynton Crowe. The FC Athenry fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Boynton Crowe should have stopped the shot. In the 43rd minute Boddibevve McWill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boynton Crowe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Farrell Tierney was the one to do the kick off. Benedict Cassin hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Farrell Tierney recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Salmon McIan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Farrell Tierney, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After 73 played minutes FC Athenry got a freekick which was hit by Artt Deans. Boddibevve McWill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Randal McIan came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Greenhall FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Randal McIan couldn't finish the play. Salmon McIan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donell Caffrey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Coinneach McJon put in a rough tackle. Coinneach McJon kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. If Artt Deans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The FC Athenry fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Greenhall FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
