In the 5th minute, Farrell Tierney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boynton Crowe acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 7th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Kevis McLiam. When Fionntán Gough fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bohemian Football Club's protests and gave Fionntán Gough a yellow card for diving instead. Farrell Tierney took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pauric Tierney. Pauric Tierney dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 26th minute, Fionntán Gough made a precise shot to the right of Boynton Crowe. FC Athenry's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a rather tough play, FC Athenry's Gearard Colwell got a free kick in the 28th minute. FC Athenry's Boynton Crowe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bearach Robinson in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 47 minutes, Fionntán Gough managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bohemian Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fionntán Gough was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rolan Ryan to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Bohemian Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Rolan Ryan. Bannon Glen Crowe lost his temper 53 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Pauric Tierney had in the 56thth minute some difficulties stopping Bergin McDecland's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Bergin McDecland did an outstanding performance 56 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-3 to the right of an irritated Pauric Tierney in the goal. Bealtaine Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boynton Crowe having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Bohemian Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Farrell Tierney came free, but Pauric Tierney reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Donell Caffrey got free with Pauric Tierney in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pauric Tierney didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donell Caffrey went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Bohemian Football Club's Bealtaine Hughes got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 77 minutes into the match, Bohemian Football Club's goalkeeper Pauric Tierney had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Artt Deans. In the 79th minute, Artt Deans made a precise shot to the right of Pauric Tierney. Bohemian Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Boynton Crowe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bealtaine Hughes in the 83rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Bohemian Football Club's zone, Turlough McSteven stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pauric Tierney came out of the goal and Turlough McSteven tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bergin McDecland during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of FC Athenry:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bohemian Football Club:s goal. Bohemian Football Club's Pauric Tierney played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Farrell Tierney in the 92nd minute of play. Bearach Robinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 98 minutes into the match, Bohemian Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Farrell Tierney came free, but Pauric Tierney reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 100 minutes into the game, Turlough McSteven recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pauric Tierney. Turlough McSteven showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-6. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Athenry walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
