A hard shot by Blaine Delaney from long distance, 7 minutes into the match, got Tomás Brennan's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Hedgetown's Boynton Gallagher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fionntán McFrank in the 85th minute of play. Brickeen Prunty scored 2-2 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tomás Brennan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Fionntán McFrank managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athabatteen FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fionntán McFrank was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boynton Gallagher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hedgetown were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Athabatteen FC to leave the ground with a draw.
