In the 8th minute, Heron Gallagher ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Barhart Cassin was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bren Branson in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Barhart Cassin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Donlevy Moran's late challenge caught a Salia Sparta Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donlevy Moran helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Bren Branson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salia Sparta Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Bren Branson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barhart Cassin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bren Branson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the game, Teddy Horgan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Colm Quinnless was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Donlevy Moran hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Heron Gallagher could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Barhart Cassin made a huge save. 40 minutes into the match, Salia Sparta Club's Bren Branson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Barhart Cassin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Barhart Cassin was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Bren Branson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bren Branson really showed his touch with that goal: 3-1. If Bren Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Salia Sparta Club fans' excitement grew in the 48th match minute when Salia Sparta Club's Heron Gallagher looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bren Branson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Casey Dimson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shamrock rovers's supporters rose to their feet, but Casey Dimson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Colm Quinnless breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Barhart Cassin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bren Branson in the 64th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Teddy Horgan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Salia Sparta Club's zone, Casey Dimson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Colm Quinnless came out of the goal and Casey Dimson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Colm Quinnless took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Dimson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Salia Sparta Club's Colm Quinnless proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Salia Sparta Club from getting a goal against them. Shamrock rovers's Barhart Cassin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heron Gallagher in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to Shamrock rovers getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Gaynor Dimson hit a great ball. Berchan Horgan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barhart Cassin having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Gaynor Dimson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bren Branson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Barhart Cassin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 98 minutes into the match, Heron Gallagher had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Barhart Cassin. Shamrock rovers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Heron Gallagher was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Salia Sparta Club fully deserved thier win.
