The supporters of FC Dublin24 booed when Illanbaun Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baolach McTommy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cleary Mulvihill came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Raymun Callaghan could save by the left post. After having played for 21 minutes, Dane Doyle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Illanbaun Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dane Doyle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Dublin24's goalkeeper Raymun Callaghan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Jack McPhilip cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Pat Harkin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Glenn Hutton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jack McPhilip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pat Harkin having to interfere. Pat Harkin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jack McPhilip's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cleary Mulvihill to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Cleary Mulvihill left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Illanbaun Utd fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 62 minutes, Jack McPhilip mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Dublin24 and the Illanbaun Utd players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 62 played minutes FC Dublin24 got a freekick which was hit by Jack McPhilip. Illanbaun Utd's Pat Harkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Illanbaun Utd from getting a goal against them.
