Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) An unexpectedly hard shot by Breen Martyn in the 5th minute of play forced Rathcool's goalkeeper Patrick Deans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Breen Martyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Deans having to interfere. When Breen Martyn came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Churchvilla fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breen Martyn couldn't finish the play. In the 15th minute of the match Bowie McJohnny shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patrick Deans showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Churchvilla's Breen Martyn in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rathcool's goalie prevented a goal. When Gearóid McCollion fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Churchvilla's protests and gave Gearóid McCollion a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Churchvilla's Gearóid McCollion got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After 24 minutes, Giles Martyn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rathcool and the Churchvilla players grew even worse after the yellow card. Giles Martyn kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Barde Doyle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patrick Deans having to make a save. Breck Scully struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Declan McWillie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rathcool. Patrick Deans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Breen Martyn's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. 36 minutes into the match, Rathcool's goal looked a bit too open when Breen Martyn came free, but Patrick Deans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Rathcool's Harrigan Bayes got a free kick in the 41st minute.

The wind increased when Breen Martyn made the kick off in the second half. After 64 played minutes Rathcool got a freekick which was hit by Breck Scully. In the 66th minute, Harrigan Bayes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Barde Doyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 70 minutes into the match, Rathcool's goal looked a bit too open when Kerrigan Brennan came free, but Patrick Deans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patrick Deans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breen Martyn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Rathcool getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Breck Scully hit a great ball. Patrick Deans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breen Martyn, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After having played for 78 minutes, Breen Martyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Churchvilla's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breen Martyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86th match minute, Rathcool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Breck Scully to maneuver through the defense. Rathcool's Patrick Deans proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Rathcool from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Breen Martyn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Churchvilla's supporters rose to their feet, but Breen Martyn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrick Deans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Churchvilla players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
