After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Kerrigan Brennan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Churchvilla's supporters rose to their feet, but Kerrigan Brennan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ailín McLaughlin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Declan McWillie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rowley Kirby, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Ailín McLaughlin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Breen Martyn showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. After 27 played minutes Churchvilla got a freekick which was hit by Kerrigan Brennan. Rowley Kirby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Declan McWillie having to make a save. In the 33rdth minute of the game Breen Martyn who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oldleighlin AFC's Ailín McLaughlin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rowley Kirby in the 38th minute of play forced Churchvilla's goalkeeper Declan McWillie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Churchvilla's Patrick McLian was substituted for Barde Doyle. Berkley Tierney kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
