Ballylangley
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Banon Dunne started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When Gerald Lavine fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballylangley's protests and gave Gerald Lavine a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Baird Hutton during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Maryfield's Baird Hutton got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 16thth minute of the game Louis Mulvihill who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballylangley's Breffni Benson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maryfield's goalkeeper Hayes Harkin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Bodibeua Walker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballylangley's supporters rose to their feet, but Bodibeua Walker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hayes Harkin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bodibeua Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hayes Harkin having to interfere. Toren Savic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breffni Benson having to interfere. When Reilly Cronin fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballylangley's protests and gave Reilly Cronin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st minute, Reilly Cronin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Louis Mulvihill in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Breffni Benson saved Ballylangley from getting behind. Ballylangley's Breffni Benson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis Mulvihill in the 37th minute of play. Bodibeua Walker scored 1-0 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hayes Harkin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Louis Mulvihill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Breffni Benson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reilly Cronin got his second yellow card in the match during the 44th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 45th match minute, Ballylangley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reilly Cronin to maneuver through the defense. Toren Savic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Breffni Benson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
54 minutes into the game, Maryfield's Toren Savic nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Breffni Benson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Louis Mulvihill in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Breffni Benson saved Ballylangley from getting behind. Toren Savic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breffni Benson having to interfere. In the 66th minute Louis Mulvihill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Breffni Benson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 69th minute by Beckett Caffrey got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 69 played minutes Ballylangley got a freekick which was hit by Herygh Tracy. Ballylangley's Bodibeua Walker got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Glen McFrancise charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glen McFrancise the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 79 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Maryfield! In the 80th minute there was a penalty for Ballylangley. Donncha Keegan stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Hayes Harkin. 2-1. With a little luck, Ballylangley's Breffni Benson got control of the ball when Toren Savic tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ballylangley fans cheered their team off the field, for while Maryfield had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
