The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Booak McPeter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Desmond McFrancise, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Pearson Dempsey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballykean's supporters rose to their feet, but Pearson Dempsey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Farrell McFrancise breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Blathma McFrank came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Rangers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blathma McFrank couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute, Cormac Beckett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Barr McCready in the 20th minute really tested Booak McPeter's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With a little luck, Ballykean's Booak McPeter got control of the ball when Darragh Coyle tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pearson Dempsey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 27th minute Pearson Dempsey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Farrell McFrancise saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ballykean getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Earnán Deans hit a great ball. Bartel Bayes lost his temper 38 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ballykean fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 38th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 40 minutes, Rangers's Heron Sheridan got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Booak McPeter. 43 minutes into the match, Rangers's goal looked a bit too open when Earnán Deans came free, but Farrell McFrancise reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Booak McPeter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darragh Coyle in the 46th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Earnán Deans had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Farrell McFrancise. Rangers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Earnán Deans was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Earnán Deans to make the kick off. If Earnán Deans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Blathma McFrank made a precise shot to the right of Booak McPeter. Ballykean's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Earnán Deans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Brann McLiam in the 71st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Ballykean's Cormac Beckett. When Torrey McVictor fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rangers's protests and gave Torrey McVictor a yellow card for diving instead. Brann McLiam struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Booak McPeter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rangers. Earnán Deans succeeded in the game's 89th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-2. The Ballykean players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Rangers from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
