Farrell McFrancise came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Kilbeggan's Harkin Rutherford. But to his dismay, Harkin Rutherford quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Farrell McFrancise took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boru McStephen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, Kilbeggan's goalkeeper Ravan Savic had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Desmond McFrancise. Heron Sheridan made in the 22nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Brann McLiam however managed to control. Kilbeggan's Ravan Savic proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Kilbeggan from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute, Austin Scully fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 40th minute, Barney McTommy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blaine McCready made in the 47th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Brann McLiam however managed to control. After the first half Kilbeggan were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Boru McStephen to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Kilbeggan were awarded a corner. Harkin Rutherford went to the cornerflag to take it. Kilbeggan's Harkin Rutherford was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Farrell McFrancise in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Harkin Rutherford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boru McStephen hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 60th minute of the game. One of Rangers:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Kilbeggan:s goal. Harkin Rutherford shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Ravan Savic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darragh Coyle in the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th match minute, Kilbeggan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harkin Rutherford to maneuver through the defense. Ravan Savic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Desmond McFrancise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Rangers booed when Kilbeggan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bivadi McCready didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute of the match Heron Sheridan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ravan Savic showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Boru McStephen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farrell McFrancise having to interfere. Farrell McFrancise made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harkin Rutherford in the 87th minute of play. Rangers's Farrell McFrancise proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Rangers from getting a goal against them. The Kilbeggan players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
