The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Keely McWill's late challenge caught a Damhliag's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Keely McWill helped the player get up and apologised. Brett McGlynn hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Braddon Rutherford kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Daniel McWill. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. In the 13th minute, Danann Caffrey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torna Todd in the 16th minute of play forced Damhliag's goalkeeper Leon McBrand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Damhliag's goal looked a bit too open when Beartlai McNamara came free, but Leon McBrand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Killanigan booed when Damhliag was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beckett John didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th match minute, Damhliag was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joseph Horgan to maneuver through the defense. Beartlai McNamara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Leon McBrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Damhliag defense, Torna Todd kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leon McBrand. The Damhliag fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leon McBrand should have stopped the shot. Leon McBrand didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Torna Todd went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the match, Damhliag's goal looked a bit too open when Beartlai McNamara came free, but Leon McBrand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute, Donal Mulvihill made a precise shot to the right of Daniel McWill. Killanigan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 41 minutes into the match, Killanigan's goal looked a bit too open when Braddon Rutherford came free, but Daniel McWill reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute Beartlai McNamara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leon McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Gilian Mullan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Damhliag's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilian Mullan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel McWill breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Torna Todd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Torna Todd made a kick off. Gehan McFrank hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Torna Todd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Killanigan's supporters rose to their feet, but Torna Todd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon McBrand breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Braddon Rutherford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the game, Brendon Scully was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Killanigan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Damhliag the free kick. Daniel McWill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilian Mullan, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute, Braddon Rutherford left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Damhliag fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Damhliag's Gilian Mullan got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Torna Todd received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Leon McBrand came out and tried to block the shot, but Torna Todd slotted it home off the left post making it 3-4 in the 77th minute. After having played for 79 minutes, Torna Todd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Killanigan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Torna Todd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Beartlai McNamara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Killanigan's supporters rose to their feet, but Beartlai McNamara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon McBrand breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brendon Scully was shown his second yellow card after 92 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 96 minutes, Berk Ghee mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Killanigan and the Damhliag players grew even worse after the yellow card. Berk Ghee kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Daniel McWill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilian Mullan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Many of Killanigan's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Killanigan may have spent more time on the ball, but Damhliag were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
