The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Albano Mitxel kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Carnaghan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 14th minute, Auley Rutherford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Tevis Willson notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Carnaghan's Beiti McTommy. Beiti McTommy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Carnaghan's Beiti McTommy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tevis Willson in the 25th minute of play. After 29 minutes, Brett Todd mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cait Dubh Athy and the Carnaghan players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Cait Dubh Athy getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Brett Todd hit a great ball. Caroll Moran who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Ionel Rogozea when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 35th minute of the match Carnaghan got a corner. Cait Dubh Athy's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Harley McDonald ran over to the corner to take the kick. Brenan Tierney was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With a little luck, Cait Dubh Athy's Ionel Rogozea got control of the ball when Harley McDonald tried to sneak it across the goal line. Abban Colwell kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The Carnaghan players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cait Dubh Athy were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Harley McDonald stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Cait Dubh Athy's goal looked a bit too open when Caroll Moran came free, but Ionel Rogozea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Cait Dubh Athy's Tevis Willson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Beiti McTommy. That made the score 0-3 after 55 minutes of play. Cait Dubh Athy made a substitution. Finn McOliver replaced Abban Colwell. 63 minutes into the game, Ailín Harkin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cait Dubh Athy's Gearroid McAaron quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Daniel Dunne's late challenge caught a Cait Dubh Athy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Dunne helped the player get up and apologised. Tevis Willson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 65th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Beiti McTommy. Carnaghan's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Carnaghan's Beiti McTommy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Carnaghan from getting a goal against them. Cait Dubh Athy's Tevis Willson got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ionel Rogozea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harley McDonald in the 79th minute of play. After 81 played minutes Carnaghan got a freekick which was hit by Bowen McJohn. In the 93rd minute, Cait Dubh Athy's Finn McOliver dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. The Cait Dubh Athy players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
