Baodan Horgan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Coolroe's Brannon Sheridan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baodan Horgan in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Salmon Walker fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 32nd minute, Baodan Horgan made a precise shot to the right of Brannon Sheridan. Coolroe's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curran Cassin got free with Pat Rutherford in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pat Rutherford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curran Cassin in the 41st minute of play. Brannon Sheridan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brine McCready, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Salmon Walker in the 45th minute of play forced Clongeen's goalkeeper Pat Rutherford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Curran Cassin to make the kick off. With an all-out effort, Clongeen's Brannon Sheridan threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Boyd Branson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 72nd minute, Baodan Horgan made a precise shot to the right of Brannon Sheridan. Coolroe's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Brannon Sheridan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boyd Branson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Justin Matthews's late challenge caught a Clongeen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The Coolroe supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Clongeen's performance. The match ended with a win for Clongeen.
