Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Harley McDonald started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The supporters of Clongeen booed when Carnaghan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donald Gallagher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caroll Moran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pat Rutherford having to interfere. 9 minutes into the game, Clongeen's Baodan Horgan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Beiti McTommy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brine McCready in the 14th minute of play forced Carnaghan's goalkeeper Beiti McTommy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beiti McTommy came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Clongeen's Baodan Horgan. But to his dismay, Baodan Horgan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 20 played minutes Clongeen got a freekick which was hit by Donelle McTommy. 21 minutes into the match, Clongeen's goal looked a bit too open when Harley McDonald came free, but Pat Rutherford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 22 played minutes Carnaghan got a freekick which was hit by Caroll Moran. 31 minutes into the match, Boyd Branson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Beiti McTommy. Carnaghan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Boyd Branson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Beiti McTommy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boyd Branson, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baodan Horgan in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Beiti McTommy saved Carnaghan from getting behind. In the 44th minute Baodan Horgan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beiti McTommy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Clongeen's Baodan Horgan got a free kick in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baodan Horgan was the one to do the kick off. When Baodan Horgan came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Clongeen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baodan Horgan couldn't finish the play. 60 minutes into the game, Donelle McTommy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clongeen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carnaghan the free kick. After a rather tough play, Clongeen's Donelle McTommy got a free kick in the 60th minute. Daniel Dunne charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Dunne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th minute, Baodan Horgan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brine McCready took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Beiti McTommy. Beiti McTommy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brine McCready got free with Beiti McTommy in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 71 played minutes Carnaghan got a freekick which was hit by Brenan Tierney. In the 76th minute, Brine McCready made a precise shot to the right of Beiti McTommy. Carnaghan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. 80 minutes into the match, Clongeen's goal looked a bit too open when Harley McDonald came free, but Pat Rutherford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Beiti McTommy made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Brine McCready sent off a good shot on target. In the 83rd minute, Quinton Prunty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Donald Gallagher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Pat Rutherford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pat Rutherford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donald Gallagher in the 93rd minute of the match. Harley McDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Pat Rutherford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Clongeen could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Carnaghan throughout the match.
