Ballyboughal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave St. James Gate F.C. the free kick. Egan McLaughlin took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Barclay Ferguson. Barclay Ferguson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 2-0 became the score in the 11th minute when Hewney Kirby elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 14 minutes, Eoin Ferguson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballyboughal and the St. James Gate F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eoin Ferguson kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barhart Costello in the 15th minute of play forced Ballyboughal's goalkeeper Barclay Ferguson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ballyboughal defense, Hewney Kirby kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Barclay Ferguson. The Ballyboughal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Barclay Ferguson should have stopped the shot. Barclay Ferguson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barhart Costello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute, Hewney Kirby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barclay Ferguson made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Pearse McWilliam sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the match, Ballyboughal's goal looked a bit too open when Hewney Kirby came free, but Barclay Ferguson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Hewney Kirby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Barclay Ferguson. Ballyboughal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hewney Kirby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Egan McLaughlin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Barclay Ferguson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Pearse McWilliam notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Ballyboughal's Barclay Ferguson. Barclay Ferguson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 39th minute, Egan McLaughlin made a precise shot to the right of Barclay Ferguson. Ballyboughal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Barclay Ferguson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bannon Glen Crowe in the 44th minute. Ballyboughal's Barclay Ferguson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Ballyboughal from getting a goal against them.

Barclay Ferguson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hewney Kirby, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Bevin Molloy's late challenge caught a St. James Gate F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bevin Molloy helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th minute Hewney Kirby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barclay Ferguson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barhart Costello in the 57th minute of play forced Ballyboughal's goalkeeper Barclay Ferguson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fiachra McNamee kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. When St. James Gate F.C.'s Hewney Kirby in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ballyboughal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barhart Costello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Barclay Ferguson came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by St. James Gate F.C.'s Barhart Costello. But to his dismay, Barhart Costello quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. Ballyboughal's Barclay Ferguson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hewney Kirby in the 71st minute of play. After 72 played minutes Ballyboughal got a freekick which was hit by Fiachra McNamee. 76 minutes into the match, Hewney Kirby notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Ballyboughal's Barclay Ferguson. Barclay Ferguson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 79th minute, Brennen Moran ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Brigid Rutherford was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-1. St. James Gate F.C. made a substitution. Biddy Delaney replaced Barhart Costello. In the 86th minute, Dennis McBrand hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barclay Ferguson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bannon Glen Crowe went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 10-1 was the resulting score. Barclay Ferguson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hewney Kirby in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the St. James Gate F.C. players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
