Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lee McBrand started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the match, Ballydonegan's goal looked a bit too open when Toran Branson came free, but Berkeley Delaney reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute Boyd Benson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berkeley Delaney saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 played minutes Caherlea FC got a freekick which was hit by Gil Morrison. Lou McJohnny made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lee McBrand in the 17th minute. The supporters of Ballydonegan booed when Caherlea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quirk Duggan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Royan McStephen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Berkeley Delaney. Ballydonegan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Royan McStephen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. When Caherlea FC's Quirk Duggan in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ballydonegan's goalie prevented a goal. Suibhne McVictor hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Berkeley Delaney showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quirk Duggan in the 35th minute of the match. 37 minutes into the match, Quirk Duggan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Berkeley Delaney. Ballydonegan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Quirk Duggan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Berkeley Delaney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boyd Benson in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toran Branson in the 48th minute of play forced Ballydonegan's goalkeeper Berkeley Delaney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Caherlea FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Brady Prunty kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Berkeley Delaney didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Toran Branson went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. Berkeley Delaney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Royan McStephen, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Quirk Duggan got free with Berkeley Delaney in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boyd Benson in the 80th minute of play forced Ballydonegan's goalkeeper Berkeley Delaney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ballydonegan's zone, Quirk Duggan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Berkeley Delaney came out of the goal and Quirk Duggan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute Lee McBrand shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McJohnny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Quirk Duggan got free with Berkeley Delaney in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darick McJon in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Berkeley Delaney prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Barde Callaghan hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. After 93 played minutes Caherlea FC got a freekick which was hit by Darick McJon. Caherlea FC played a much better game than Ballydonegan and deserved their victory. The Ballydonegan players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
