Athy's Brenden Barrett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Athy from getting a goal against them. 11 minutes into the match, Galway Cowboys's goal looked a bit too open when Balor Mullan came free, but Benigno Jerold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Moisés Antas fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galway Cowboys's protests and gave Moisés Antas a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Galway Cowboys getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Moisés Antas hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Moisés Antas in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brenden Barrett saved Athy from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Athy's Coran Tracy got a free kick in the 30th minute. Athy's Brenden Barrett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moisés Antas in the 31st minute of play. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Athy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mikk Nurk was slow to take the kick. During this time Galway Cowboys's players had a chance to rest. Nash Prior received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Brenden Barrett came out and tried to block the shot, but Nash Prior slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 35th minute. Brenden Barrett made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Moisés Antas sent off a good shot on target. 43 minutes into the game, Galway Cowboys's Moisés Antas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Brenden Barrett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Balor Mullan made the kick off in the second half. Sacha Boey's late challenge caught a Athy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sacha Boey helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Galway Cowboys getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Sacha Boey hit a great ball. 55 minutes in the game Kennedy McBjarton did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Bannan McPhil. The supporters of Galway Cowboys booed when Athy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Banan Molloy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mikk Nurk recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brenden Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nash Prior in the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd minute Moisés Antas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brenden Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Athy booed when Galway Cowboys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sacha Boey didn't get a good kick on the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Athy's goal looked a bit too open when Moisés Antas came free, but Brenden Barrett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute, Moisés Antas made a precise shot to the right of Brenden Barrett. Athy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Moisés Antas scored 5-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brenden Barrett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Nash Prior had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Nash Prior made a precise shot to the right of Brenden Barrett. Athy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Benigno Jerold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Balor Mullan in the 83rd minute of the match. Brenden Barrett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moisés Antas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 90 minutes, Nash Prior managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galway Cowboys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nash Prior was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Moisés Antas in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brenden Barrett prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
