Pat Walker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Balor Mullan in the 8th minute of the match. Brenden Barrett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cullan Dimson in the 9th minute of play. If Ailill Ryan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had been going on for 15 minutes, Athy's Darrin McMichel got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pat Walker. Braonain McJames scored 2-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brenden Barrett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Brenden Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ailill Ryan in the 24th minute of the match. Athy's Brenden Barrett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irwin Keegan in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th minute of the game John Myler made a throw-in which Braonain McJames played forward. Bairthmead Hunt struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Brenden Barrett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dhún na nGall™. In the 35th minute, Coran Tracy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Dhún na nGall™ getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Bairthmead Hunt hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bairthmead Hunt was the one to do the kick off. Darrin McMichel charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darrin McMichel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Irwin Keegan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Darrin McMichel kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Irwin Keegan notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Athy's Brenden Barrett. Brenden Barrett was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pat Walker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balor Mullan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the game, Braonain McJames was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dhún na nGall™'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Athy the free kick. In the 62nd match minute, Dhún na nGall™ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Braonain McJames to maneuver through the defense. Kerrigan McLian's late challenge caught a Dhún na nGall™'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kerrigan McLian helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th minute, Kerrigan McLian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Athy getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Coran Tracy hit a great ball. Balor Mullan hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Braonain McJames's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brenden Barrett was relentless in the 95th minute of the game.
