Honiton AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Halliday was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 10th minute, Frank Crichton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julian Aldridge kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Honiton AFC's Freddy Johnson got a free kick in the 18th minute. Honiton AFC's Ben Clarke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antony Breeden in the 20th minute of play. The attack was good, but when Robert Cotterill in the 41st minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ashley Farrell made the kick off in the second half.
