Caleb Bonds took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordon Sykes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute, Isaac Folwill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute, Blair Weeks fired a really elegant long shot, but Patrick Rigg threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. In the 15th minute, Shane McDermot ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Caleb Bonds was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 18th minute Shane McDermot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caleb Bonds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Drew Wellings fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Rigg having to interfere. In the 23rdth minute of the game Gordon Sykes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Retford FC's Caleb Bonds was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Caleb Bonds took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordon Sykes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gordon Sykes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Retford FC's zone, Shane McDermot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caleb Bonds came out of the goal and Shane McDermot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gordon Sykes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Caleb Bonds tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Retford FC booed when Hampstead City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaac Folwill didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Gordon Sykes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane McDermot in the 42nd minute of play forced Retford FC's goalkeeper Caleb Bonds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gordon Sykes struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Caleb Bonds didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hampstead City.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Shane McDermot was the one to do the kick off. Caleb Bonds made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shane McDermot in the 53rd minute of play. Drew Wellings fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Rigg having to interfere. Patrick Rigg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Drew Wellings, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Caleb Bonds took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shane McDermot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Drew Wellings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Patrick Rigg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Shane McDermot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Shane McDermot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francis Dimmock in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrick Rigg saved Hampstead City from getting behind. Caleb Bonds made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shane McDermot in the 85th minute of play. With a little luck, Retford FC's Caleb Bonds got control of the ball when Gordon Sykes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gordon Sykes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Caleb Bonds made a huge save.
