When Gareth Poate fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Holmfirth FC's protests and gave Gareth Poate a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Truro booed when Holmfirth FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gareth Poate didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fitz Stonehouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Jon Bartram tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Truro's Fitz Stonehouse in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Holmfirth FC's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Truro's zone, Steve Martin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John-Paul Carey-Bertram came out of the goal and Steve Martin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Duncan Worrall scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of John-Paul Carey-Bertram, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Danny Parkin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Jon Bartram made a huge save. Jon Bartram made an important save on a dangerous shot by Danny Parkin in the 31st minute. After 34 played minutes Truro got a freekick which was hit by Gary Blair. 40 minutes into the game, Duncan Worrall cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. John-Paul Carey-Bertram was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fitz Stonehouse succeeded in the game's 44th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Duncan Worrall was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Lewis Gamble shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Bartram saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gareth Poate hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute of the match Dale Varley sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jon Bartram skillfully saved the ball. In the 56th minute, Nicky Wellings hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Steve Martin might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over John-Paul Carey-Bertram. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steve Martin ran back to his position shaking his head. Duncan Worrall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Carey-Bertram having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Fitz Stonehouse's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jon Bartram was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Holmfirth FC's Toby Vickers got a free kick in the 77th minute. Steve Martin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fitz Stonehouse struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Jon Bartram didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Truro. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steve Martin got free with John-Paul Carey-Bertram in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Duncan Worrall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Carey-Bertram having to interfere. A collision led to Truro getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Lewis Gamble hit a great ball.
