Spectators: 6716 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Benji Beresford kicked off to start the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tony Banim in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Terry Postolan saved Finchley from getting behind. Finchley's Terry Postolan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tony Banim in the 8th minute of play. When Tony Banim came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Harefield AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tony Banim couldn't finish the play. Perry Moore kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After 17 played minutes, Finchley's Archie Harrison shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marty Croyden came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Finchley reached it. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Benji Beresford put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marty Croyden. In the 22nd minute, Zak Monkman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute, Perry Moore hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Terry Postolan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Banim, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Michael Phippard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Croyden having to interfere. Benji Beresford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Marty Croyden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Benji Beresford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 34 played minutes Harefield AFC got a freekick which was hit by Tod Dibb. After 35 played minutes Finchley got a freekick which was hit by Michael Phippard. Terry Postolan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Banim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Banim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terry Postolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Banim in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Banim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marty Croyden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zak Monkman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joey Tully sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terry Postolan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Banim, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute of the match Stefan Hughes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Terry Postolan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tony Banim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Terry Postolan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 66 minutes of play, Harefield AFC's Joey Tully made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Terry Postolan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marty Croyden didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Michael Phippard went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Benji Beresford might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marty Croyden. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benji Beresford ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 82nd match minute, Finchley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perry Moore to maneuver through the defense. Terry Postolan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Banim's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. With his leg Marty Croyden managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Finchley's Michael Phippard fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Terry Postolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Banim in the 94th minute of play. After some careless play in the Finchley defense, Tony Banim kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Terry Postolan. The Finchley fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Terry Postolan should have stopped the shot. Finchley's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
