Spectators: 6690 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1690, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Adam Armitage started the match with the kick off. Lance Woolcock struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Calvin Gulliver didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Crawley AFC. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gus Newby got free with Connor Timmins in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Crawley AFC's zone, Gus Newby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Connor Timmins came out of the goal and Gus Newby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adam Armitage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Calvin Gulliver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Robin Swinscoe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jamal Soares struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Connor Timmins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashwell City. Travis Ashton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Timmins having to interfere. Connor Timmins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Travis Ashton in the 33rd minute of play. Crawley AFC's Lance Woolcock got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute Adam Armitage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calvin Gulliver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Travis Ashton in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Connor Timmins prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Calvin Gulliver came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Crawley AFC's Lance Woolcock. But to his dismay, Lance Woolcock quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Travis Ashton made a kick off. Connor Timmins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Travis Ashton, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Travis Ashton might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Connor Timmins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Travis Ashton ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 59th minute of the game, Ian Norman landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 59 minutes, Leroy Cook mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Crawley AFC and the Ashwell City players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Mattias Titmuss in the 64th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Calvin Gulliver kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-2 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Calvin Gulliver made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lance Woolcock in the 68th minute. Ashwell City's Travis Ashton got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Travis Ashton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Connor Timmins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 83 played minutes Ashwell City got a freekick which was hit by Jonathon Beale. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Travis Ashton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ashwell City's supporters rose to their feet, but Travis Ashton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Connor Timmins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Crawley AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
