Garry Keyworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Quentin Wicks did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Joey Pamplin 9 minutes into the match. Freddy Beavan's late challenge caught a Bradford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Freddy Beavan helped the player get up and apologised. Freddy Beavan hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Pete Carr showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Oddy in the 15th minute of the match. Julian Oddy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Pete Carr tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Oddy in the 26th minute of play forced Bradford's goalkeeper Pete Carr to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Bradford's zone, Tommy Stockton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pete Carr came out of the goal and Tommy Stockton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Bradford getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Ken Shilton hit a great ball. In the 31st minute, Julian Oddy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julian Oddy might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pete Carr. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julian Oddy ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 34 minutes, Tommy Stockton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bridgnorth AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy Stockton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Bradford's Dave Milburn got a free kick in the 38th minute. In the 40th minute, Tommy Stockton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pete Carr was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Garry Keyworth kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Oddy to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Oddy in the 52nd minute of play forced Bradford's goalkeeper Pete Carr to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julian Oddy took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pete Carr. Pete Carr dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 59 minutes into the match, Bradford's goalkeeper Pete Carr had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tommy Stockton. Bradford's Pete Carr proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Bradford from getting a goal against them. Garry Keyworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Joey Pamplin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Garry Keyworth sped through Bridgnorth AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joey Pamplin. In the 84th minute Garry Keyworth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joey Pamplin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bridgnorth AFC's Dom Button got a free kick in the 89th minute. Alan Daly recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bridgnorth AFC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
