Rio Ashworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruben Nevin, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Lancaster City's Reg Gamble slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pete Beswetherick. That made the score 2-0 after 12 minutes of play. 15 minutes into the game, Ruben Nevin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Rio Ashworth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Reg Gamble sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. West Kirby AFC's Pete Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reg Gamble in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to West Kirby AFC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Pat Boland hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute, Lancaster City's Reg Gamble dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. Rio Ashworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruben Nevin in the 26th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Lancaster City's Reg Gamble slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pete Beswetherick. That made the score 4-1 after 28 minutes of play. After 31 minutes, Ruben Nevin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Kirby AFC and the Lancaster City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, Ruben Nevin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Lancaster City's Reg Gamble slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pete Beswetherick. That made the score 5-1 after 37 minutes of play. Pete Craddock could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Pete Beswetherick made a huge save. Reg Gamble fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pete Beswetherick having to interfere. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reg Gamble stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Silvester Seabourne fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lancaster City's protests and gave Silvester Seabourne a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Lancaster City got a freekick which was hit by Silvester Seabourne. In the 53rd minute, Jay Hargrave hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Lancaster City's zone, Ray Piercy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rio Ashworth came out of the goal and Ray Piercy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 58 minutes into the game, Reg Gamble cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Pete Beswetherick was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 64th minute, Reg Gamble made a precise shot to the right of Pete Beswetherick. West Kirby AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-1. West Kirby AFC's Pete Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reg Gamble in the 68th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Reg Gamble put it in 8-1 from a short distance just to the right of Pete Beswetherick. In the 79thth minute of the game Reg Gamble who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but West Kirby AFC's Pete Beswetherick was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Reg Gamble's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pete Beswetherick was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Reg Gamble recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruben Nevin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pat Boland hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. In the 90th minute, Reg Gamble left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lancaster City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Lancaster City fully deserved thier win.
