Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5583, Seating: 1712, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Dennis Friebe got the match started through his kick off. With his leg Robin Mumford managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Strood FC's Danny Chalk fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zane Hickson in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andre Moore saved Strood FC from getting behind. After 14 minutes, Alfred Mielak made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Colchester's Robin Mumford tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Strood FC's goal looked a bit too open when Zane Hickson came free, but Andre Moore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zane Hickson in the 20th minute of play forced Strood FC's goalkeeper Andre Moore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 minutes Strood FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marlon Wray who took care of the corner kick. In the 22nd minute, Gregory Basterfield hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute Dennis Friebe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Mumford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andre Moore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zane Hickson in the 28th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Dennis Friebe fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Robin Mumford, passed just outside the right post. In the 33rdth minute of the game Quentin Sheridan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colchester's Robin Mumford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Strood FC's Dennis Friebe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robin Mumford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 38 minutes into the game, Pete Grigg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Robin Mumford was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Robin Mumford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pete Grigg in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Colchester's Wes Jones seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Wes Jones the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Colchester protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Wes Jones had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Robin Mumford went to the wrong direction when Geovanny Linde was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zane Hickson made a kick off. Zane Hickson struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Andre Moore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colchester. A collision led to Strood FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Quentin Sheridan hit a great ball. When Danny Chalk came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Strood FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Chalk couldn't finish the play. Robin Mumford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dennis Friebe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Quentin Sheridan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute, Alfred Mielak left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Strood FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Zane Hickson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Andre Moore made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Friebe in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robin Mumford prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Robin Mumford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quentin Sheridan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Strood FC's Dennis Friebe in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Colchester's goalie prevented a goal. Robin Mumford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Friebe in the 76th minute of play. Danny Chalk struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Robin Mumford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Strood FC. Strood FC's Ollie Barber was substituted for Dennis Friebe. Robin Mumford didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stewart Reed went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. If Zane Hickson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ollie Barber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robin Mumford having to interfere. In the 91stth minute of the game Pete Grigg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colchester's Robin Mumford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 91 minutes, Trevor Mullen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Colchester and the Strood FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Colchester getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Trevor Mullen hit a great ball. David Corbridge hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ollie Barber in the 94th minute of play forced Colchester's goalkeeper Robin Mumford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Strood FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
