Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jay Knott took the kick off in the first half of the match. Paddy Griggs struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Robin Mumford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Edgware United. In a very dangerous position, a player in Colchester fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 8th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jay Knott in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Robin Mumford saved Colchester from getting behind. Paddy Griggs might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robin Mumford. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paddy Griggs ran back to his position shaking his head. Trevor Mullen charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Trevor Mullen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Trevor Mullen hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Jay Knott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Paddy Griggs came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Edgware United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paddy Griggs couldn't finish the play. Paddy Griggs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Robin Mumford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gregory Basterfield hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Robin Mumford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jay Knott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Jay Knott took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Robin Mumford to make any attempt to save it. 39 minutes into the match, Colchester's goalkeeper Robin Mumford had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paddy Griggs. Jay Knott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robin Mumford having to interfere. Paddy Griggs did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-0 to the left of a surprised Robin Mumford 44 minutes into the match. In the 48th minute, Deon Pitman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Edgware United's Todd Pearch tried to score from far away in the 49th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

After a defensive mix-up in Edgware United's zone, Zane Hickson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nathan Case came out of the goal and Zane Hickson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Colchester's goalkeeper Robin Mumford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Paddy Griggs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Robin Mumford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Colchester's Robin Mumford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jay Knott in the 67th minute of play. David Corbridge charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Corbridge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nathan Case made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Harris in the 71st minute of play. After having played for 78 minutes, Paddy Griggs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edgware United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paddy Griggs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute Jay Knott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Mumford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Jay Knott notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Colchester's Robin Mumford. Robin Mumford was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Robin Mumford didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jay Knott went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. There was no doubt that Edgware United were the better team. Edgware United's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
