Alwinton AFC's Zackary Hehir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Seaward in the 25th minute of play. Glen Leather sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrew Downing hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Glen Leather got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Luton booed when Alwinton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chip Langdon didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Frank Seaward came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Luton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Seaward couldn't finish the play. Stu Berryman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Zackary Hehir tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Glen Leather to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Philip Spencer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Luton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alwinton AFC the free kick. After 57 played minutes Luton got a freekick which was hit by Philip Spencer. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stu Berryman in the 69th minute of play forced Alwinton AFC's goalkeeper Zackary Hehir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Seaward blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zackary Hehir having to make a save. Eric Howson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stew Drysdale in the 73rd minute of the match. Alwinton AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Glen Leather was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eric Howson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stew Drysdale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 97 minutes into the match, Frank Seaward had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zackary Hehir. Alwinton AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frank Seaward was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Luton played a much better game than Alwinton AFC and deserved their victory. The Alwinton AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
